The foremost businessmen of our country and Japanese investors met once again in the 4. Turkish-Japanese Summer Night, held Wednesday, September 21st at Aksan Law Firm. 

Important messages for the economic cooperation of the two countries were stated at the organization. More than 150 guests joined the night, including invitees from the Japanese Consulate General, representatives from 20 Japanese companies, the German Chamber of Commerce, DEIK (External Economic Relations Committee), representatives from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jetro (Japanese External Commerce Organization), MÜSİAD and representatives from the leading companies of the two countries.

Relationships were consolidated 
Diplomatic relationships between Turkish and Japan were strengthened as Turkey declared 2010 as the Year of Japan. The order of business at the night was the improving of commercial relationships between the two countries. Measures to be taken by the countries and possible improvements were also discussed on the night, as speakers noted that the new focus for major Japanese investors and SME’s was Turkey. The speakers also underlined the importance of Turkish-Japanese cooperation.

The Japanese Consulate General of Istanbul and the guest of honor at the night, Norio Ehara said in his speech: ‘’Small problems may happen between any two countries but Turkey and Japan have no problems between them, both politically and economically; the number of Japanese companies in Turkey is increasing and will continue to increase.’’

The Republic of Turkey Tokyo Commerce Principal Consultant Musa Demir said in his speech: ‘’I advise Turkish investors not to miss out on the opportunities of Japan and to analyze the conditions well, 2 Turkish companies have invested in Japan as they opened their first offices and I thank Aksan Law Firm for this.’’

President of the Assembly of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Şekip Avdagiç stated there was a difference in benefit of Japan between the external commerce balance of the two countries and this imbalance should be recovered.

Jetro (Japanese External Commerce Organization) Turkey and EMEA general director Yasuyuki Murahashi stated, ‘’Even though the events of July 15, the situation regarding Syria and immigrants may seem worrying for Turkey to an exterior observer, the government policies and the usual flow of daily life was pleasing and they, as Jetro, would continue to explain these events to Japanese investors impartially and to advise Turkish and Japanese investors to keep ties strong.’’

DEIK (External Economic Relations Committee) Asia Pacific Business Council President  Murat Kolbaşı underlined his trust in the Turkish economy and stated that ‘’Japan always gave the warmest messages no matter the situation in Turkey and displayed friendship and positive relations.’’

Japanese SME’s Will Enter the Turkish Market

Japanese countries, who built the Fatih Sultan Mehmet and İzmit Bay Bridge, plan to invest futher in Turkey, especially in industries where there is need for high technology, such as construction, energy and such. It is predicted especially Japanese SME’s will enter the market in the coming months as the market will blossom. The aim is for both cooperation of Japanese SME’s and the improvement of the know-how.

The invitees had enjoyable moments as Turkish and Japanese regional foods were served and traditional music of the two countries were played. Attorney Muhammet Aksan, host of the night held in the garden of Aksan Law Firm in Japanese ambiance, said ‘’Our course of action is to improve the cooperation capabilities of Turkish and Japanese SME’s and to combine Japanese technology and capital with Turkish capacity of business and enterpreneurship to create opportunities for joint activities in Asia and Africa.’’
